Aston Villa remain active in their pursuit of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Joao Palhinha as Unai Emery aims to strengthen his roster ahead of the summer transfer window closure in a fortnight.
Wan-Bissaka, West Ham’s right-back, did not feature in Nuno Espirito Santo’s lineup for the recent encounter with Burnley, possibly because of ongoing speculation regarding his future.
Earlier during the transfer period, West Ham were understood to have demanded over £20 million for the Democratic Republic of Congo defender, and Villa will endeavour to negotiate a deal.
Meanwhile, Palhinha may still depart Bayern Munich on a temporary basis after the club’s director Max Eberl indicated the German side would be open to considering a substantial loan fee.
Bayern prefer to move Palhinha on permanently this summer, though few clubs have shown willingness to pursue such an arrangement.
The 31-year-old midfielder, who delivered impressive performances during a season-long loan at Tottenham Hotspur, is eager to move to Villa, and Bayern acknowledge his preference.
Villa are also anticipated to offload Kosta Nedeljkovic to Rangers, which would create room for Wan-Bissaka following Andres Garcia’s temporary switch to Getafe earlier in the transfer window.
Matteo Ruggeri and Zion Suzuki are both set to be announced as Villa’s fourth and fifth summer signings in the coming days.
